Highlights to Include CONDOR Cable TV Headend System and Set-Top Box Platform; Streaming, Encoding/Decoding, and Video Signal Routing Solutions
Sept. 9, 2016 San Diego, California - Pico Digital, a global technology company providing affordable cutting-edge solutions and products for the television and radio markets, today announced that the company will be exhibiting a variety of cost-effective solutions for cable systems at SCTE/ISBE Cable-Tec Expo® 2016, taking place Sept. 26-29 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. For telecom companies delivering cable services, Pico Digital's CONDOR cable TV headend system and set-top box platform will be on display, as well as several new products designed to provide more options for streaming, encoding/decoding, and routing video signals. The company will also be highlighting upgrades to its mini cable modem termination system (miniCMTS).

At Cable-Tec Expo 2016, visitors to booth 819 will see why cable operators who have struggled to transition away from analog TV or dead-end digital technologies are adopting Pico Digital's CONDOR platform as a way to give their subscribers the digital media experience they expect at a much lower cost than they imagined. An affordable solution for cable systems of every size, the upgradeable CONDOR system allows operators to efficiently convert to all-digital today to meet their subscribers' entertainment and connectivity needs — such as HDTV channels, secure premium entertainment, and high-speed broadband Internet — while enabling the simple addition of new services over time with Pico Digital's future-proof middleware.

New products on display will include an MPEG-2/H.264 single-channel HD IP encoder, three advanced multiplexers, and two 1-RU edge QAMs. Allowing local programming to be cost-effectively inserted into satellite feeds, the PD100 IP encoder accepts HDMI in the clear, component, or composite video input with auto detection, and audio input via embedded HDMI, digital S/PDIF, or analog. Highlighted multiplexers will consist of the PDATSC-IP for the insertion of local off-air ATSC programming into digital cable or IP headend systems; the PDASI-IP with eight ASI inputs; and the PDMUX for up to 512 IP (SPTS/MPTS) inputs over UDP. Featured edge QAMs will include the IPQC24 for the conversion of IP video signals into 24 QAM channels and the IPQC24-IP for the addition of 24 IP output streams.

In addition to the PD100, Pico Digital will be showcasing the professional-grade PD1000 HD encoder modulation system and PD6IP six-channel IP encoder. The PD1000 HD allows users to encode both HD and SD signals in MPEG2 or H.264 formats. The unit supports real-time encoding, while offering the flexibility of two, four, six, or eight HDMI (in the clear), HD-SDI, component, and composite (closed captioning) inputs. The PD6IP encodes six composite video and stereo inputs into one MPTS or six SPTS outputs.

For the cost-effective delivery of high-speed data services, Pico Digital will be highlighting its miniCMTS200a, which has been upgraded with new features and improved performance. The miniCMTS200a supports up to 400 DOCSIS 2.0 modems, or 250 DOCSIS 3.0 plus 150 DOCSIS 2.0 modems. With 16 downstream bonded channels for up to 800-Mbps downstream and four upstream channels offering 120-Mbps upstream data delivery, the unit easily copes with today's demand for over-the-top (OTT) video services or managed IPTV services.

Cable-Tec Expo has been the premier cable telecommunications engineering show for more than 30 years. More information about the event is available at http://expo.scte.org. More information about Pico Digital's solutions is available at www.picodigital.com.
